Movie Collectables

Why do people collect movie memorabilia? Some want to express their passion for a favorite film or actor, and others just love movies in general and want to own a bit of movie history. Then there is another group who think of it as an investment and are willing to spend large amounts of money on a rare movie collectible.

The idea of collecting movie memorabilia basically started with film posters, photos and trade magazines. But now there is so much available that many books are devoted to the subject. Movie collectables include posters, lobby cards, one-sheets, movie wardrobes, tin collectables and other movie apparel, such as hats and t-shirts. You can also get scripts, photos, postcards, props and original autographs, etc. The list is endless.

If it is a movie collectible that you are after, chances are that we have what you are looking for. We offer great deals on classic movie collectibles and also contemporary items. Depending on whether or not the item is an original or a reproduction, the prices can vary greatly. An original classic movie poster can cost thousands of dollars. For example, an original poster of 1927 film Metropolis was sold at a London, England auction in 2006 for $690,000 to a U.S. collector. Prior to this sale, a 1932 original of Boris Karloff's, The Mummy, sold for $452,000. So, as you can see, collecting movie memorabilia can be expensive but also a good investment!

Television Collectables

Television collectables are just as diverse and can be just as pricey for some rare original items. An example is the sale of an unused can of "Munsters" paint which sold last year at an auction for $16,000. Or how about unopened .59 cent Green Hornet toys that were selling for around $5,000! Tops bubble gum cards of "The Six Million Dollar Man" were also being sold on auction sites for very high prices. To find the value of some original tv collectibles or any memorabilia collectables you can buy a memorabilia price guide, such as the ones featured in our Amazon showcase below. If you just want a nice reproduction, we have those too at good prices.

Theater Memorabilia

Theater memorabilia consists of playbills, flyers, ads, posters, photos, programs, props, postcards and more. Like many vintage movie posters, theater broadsheets, can be quite beautiful. They are a form of art in themselves and many collectors like to frame and display them in their homes or workplace. Some have entire rooms designed in movie art decor. Vintage theater memorabilia can also be a good investment. Like other forms of entertainment memorabilia, they can have a high value.

Music Collectables

If you are looking for a particular music collectible, the prices can range also. But most of the more valuable collectibles are not all that old, relatively speaking, of course; for example, Elvis, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin. All of these are popular collector choices, but unlike movie and theatre memorabilia, they do not date back to the early 1900's. Yet some of these items can fetch at phenonmenal price at auctions. Again, it depends on whether or not it is an original, limited issue item or if it has been mass produced.

The bottom line is that collecting entertainment memorabilia for a hobby can be great fun and does not have to be costly. But if you do collect for investment and want a retro collectable, there is no shortage for you to buy.
